This blog is written by a Swedish girl called Anna, that’s me.
I’m an Information Architect working at the lovely digital agency Dare in London, but I’m not writing this blog for Dare, or as part of my job at Dare. It’s purely for me and for you, if you read this.
When I’m not at Dare you’re likely to find me in West London where I live, or out travelling. I love travelling. I might also be out snapping pictures with my SLR, or at the gym/climbing wall, the latter a hobby we recently picked up on holiday in Thailand.
I’ve lived in London for a little over 3 years and before that I worked and did a MSc in Business Administration & Computer Science (recently renamed to ‘… & Information Systems’) at Copenhagen Business School. I spent 6 years in Copenhagen which means, amongst other things, that I speak Danish fluently and also that I haven’t lived in Sweden for over 9 years. My family and close friends aren’t too happy about this.
So what does ‘lixom lagom’ mean you might ask and why did I name this blog ‘lixom lagom’?
‘Lixom’ is not actually a word. It’s a slang re-write of ‘liksom’ which means ‘as it where’ or ‘so to speak’. It’s a got a positive, high-spirited joking tone to me. Very much what I’m like, or at least I’d like to think so.
Lagom is very Swedish. There is no equivalent translation in English, or precise translation in any other language for that matter. To me ‘lagom’ represents everything that is just right, just perfect, the right balance, what meets the needs. It’s like ‘lagom’ milk in your cup of tea makes it perfect. To me ‘lagom’ in it’s positive, passionate form is very much what IA is about.
